Guidelines
Due date: To be received no later than 4:00pm, Friday 1 April 2016 (end of Week 11).
Hand-In: Hand in by the due date through the iLearn subject portal.
Notes on plagiarism:
Whilst we expect a great deal of quoting from the contract which will show
up on Turnitin, we do not want copying from other student’s work. The first
type of copying is expected and encouraged. The second is not permitted and
could result in marks being deducted or the assignment being rejected.
Answer: All five questions must be answered.
Use MW-1 and AS 4000 citing clauses where necessary.
Select one of the contracts being studied and answer all questions in terms
of that contract. You do NOT need to answer the questions using both
contracts. Note the contract you have chosen in the answer. You may switch
contracts between answers if this suits you.
Marking: 25% of subject assessment.
All questions are of equal weighting (5 x 5%).
Format: All Questions are brief essays (half a page or not more than one page in
length). You should be focused on giving the facts clearly and concisely.
Be sure to describe clearly the issue requiring attention and to cite:
* the contractual basis for your comments and answer;
* quote relevant contract clauses to support your statements/comments;
* the time frame within which an action must be taken in response; and
* the consequences of failure to take such action.
Length: No greater than is absolutely necessary to convey the intended message in
accordance with the requirements of the contract.
Comments: All the Questions are generally based on the Topics 5-9 in Goldfayl.
Reference to the contracts and to the prescribed text are encouraged.

Question 2.3 (5%)

b. Explain how these costs can be recovered by the contractor.
Question 2.4 (5%)
Using your selected contract trace the steps (in dot-point form, flowcharts or brief
descriptions) involved in preparing a regular progress claim and which identifies the
parties involved and the time scale for making such a progress payment claim.
Question 2.5 (5%)
Using your selected contract trace the steps (in dot-point form, flowcharts or brief
descriptions) involved in the procedure for making administering a routine Practical
Completion notice by the contractor.
