    You are to write a well-structured essay of approximately 1000 on ONE of the following
    topics below. The essay must be well planned and demonstrate detailed research. You
    MUST include at least four credible sources to support your argument as well as a
    reference list. You need to follow the Harvard Reference style when compiling your
    reference list at the end of your essay.
    Topics
    1. The UN predicts that the world population will be above 9 million by 2050. Discuss
    the social, economic and environmental implications of this significant global
    population growth. You must include specific examples and/ or case studies as a part
    of your discussion.
    2. For Australia AND one other country, analyse the population distribution and explain
    why areas are densely or sparsely populated. Include maps to show the population
    distribution.
    You may wish to consider the following:
      Read the topic question carefully and make sure you understand what it is asking
    you to do (analyse, describe, argue…).
      Use a mind-map to organise your thoughts and ideas.
      Find credible sources to read in order to build your understanding of the topic.

      Based on your understanding of the topic and the problem, formulate a thesis
    statement with tension.
      Start writing as soon as you can so as to allow time to edit and re-draft.
    Parts of the Argumentative Essay: Due Dates and Weighting
      You MUST get your thesis statement reviewed and approved by your tutor before
    you begin writing your essay.
      It is also mandatory that you submit your paper to Turnitin. Final drafts will not be
    accepted until a digital copy of your essay is submitted to Turnitin.
