The purpose of this report is to address real and practicable problems taking place within the domestic airline company, Virgin Blue by applying the management theories and concepts imposed in the lecture. This report finds that Virgin Blue has an advantage in its low cost ticket, yet this should not keep the organization from innovation and creativity. In order to confront with the constantly changing environment, they should keep innovating and creating in today and future competition.

    Introduction
This report is going to analyse the case given of Virgin Blue. The purpose of this report is to apply what has been learned in the lecture on the theories and concepts on the management to what has been occurred in the real life, referring the issues and problems confronted by Virgin Blue. Virgin Blue is an Australian airline company, which provides low costs flights and good services. It has the limitation in the information gained. The method applied in this report is SWOT, which can be fully demonstrated the situation of Virgin Blue.
    Discussion
    Planning
    Strength
A good planning requires a clear goal which provides direction and evaluation standards of performance, a complete series of plans which outlines the solutions to accomplish the goal and describe the resources to be allocated. In this case, Virgin Blue has an advantage in the former, viz, a clear goal. Branson has set up an airline for Virgin Blue that operated as a low-cost budget carrier, and it has also made clear target market as the people on their leisure holiday. Moreover, in order to achieve the goal, he has a series of plans such as attracting his customers with low fares, no frills service and eliminating in-flight meals and printed tickets.
    Weakness
As is known to all, one of the norms for modern organizations is dynamic environments, which pushed organizations to draw specific but flexible and ongoing plan. However, in this case, the plan of low costs ticket keeps Virgin Blue from creativity, which is not positive to face the constantly changing environment. Planning can occupy the attentions from managers from time to time, yet it may not fit the long term future.
    Opportunity
The low operational cost structure has won the market share and reputation for Virgin Blue. Now it has grown up to an airline company with a fairly large scale, which provides itself with opportunities. It has accumulated experiences in operation and learned lessons about the rules of this industry (Hersey & Blanchard, 2003). Moreover, it has its own loyal guests and market share. Those factors constitute the opportunities for them to develop new plans to expand its scale and occupy the market.
    Threats
There are several competitors in the market, which become the threats for the Virgin Blue in the Australian industry of airline such as Qantas / Jet star and so forth. They are also focusing on the price fight and low costs (Griffin& Moorehead, 2011). Moreover, they keep coming with new strategies to occupy the market and win the competition. Those competitors impose the threats to the operation, management and growth of Virgin Blue. Further, Virgin Blue has faced the threats and challenges from other companies all over the world.

    Organizing
    Strength
The purpose of organizing is to divide work to be done into several specific tasks and sections, and then cluster the individual jobs into several units. The key to the successful organizing is to build the relationship between individuals, groups and departments (Robbins & Langton, 2007), which in this case, becomes the advantages to Virgin Blue. The low prices of the tickets come from its low costs of operation, which is resulted by its successful allocation of organizational resources and good establishment on the relationship between individuals, groups and departments. This has become the strength in organizing for Virgin Blue (Cameron, et.al, 2003).
    Weakness
The organizing should be corresponding to the stage of the companies, which means in different stage of the growth within the organization, there will be correspondingly different organizing to address the problems in particular. However, this key issue has not been demonstrated by the organizing within Virgin Blue, which is not helpful to its development in the long run. This weakness involves not only organizing but also evaluation and internal assessment systems.
    Opportunity
There are potential for the Virgin Blue to improve its level of organizing. It is a local airline in Australia, which will reduce the level of difficulty in human resource management and shaping culture for the enterprises. It can better manage the company with the good establishment of communicating channels and providing career for the staff. It can also borrow the experiences from the same type of airline companies in this industry in Australia.
