MCD6060-Social Behaviour代写
The major assessment for this unit is done in two parts: first, a research proposal plan (which
you have already submitted); and second, the major research proposal. For the first part of
this assessment you developed and presented a concise framework and draft of your final
research proposal (assessment 2).
Research Proposal Feedback Consultations
You will receive comprehensive feedback on this from you tutor in one-on-one consultation
sessions set up in week 9. Your tutor will be able to tell you if you are on the right track with
your research proposal, check the validity of your research question and give you feedback
which will help you develop your final proposal. Check you consultation time on the table
that has been put up on Moodle for week nine.
Research Proposal
The next step after receiving feedback on your research proposal plan is to complete the
development of you research proposal as the major assessment task for MCD6060 –
Introduction to Social Behaviour. While each proposal will vary a little in how it is organised
based on the research question being posed, the final submission of your research proposal
will follow the first level headings as set out and described below. You can then format your
proposal headings with or without numbers (have a look at journal articles to see how this is
done for studies similar to yours).
Cover page:
Include a cover page with the name of your research proposal and your name and student ID.
Table of Contents
Include a table of contents that lists and provides page number for all of your headings and
subheadings. You research proposal will use the following heading structure:
1. Background: (
and more descriptive name of your research proposal)
1.1 Second level heading/subheading (
descriptive subheading if required)
2. Rationale for Study (
or research if more appropriate)
3. Purpose and Aims
3.1 Purpose of study (
or research if more appropriate)
3.2 Research Question
4. Literature Review: (
you could also use a more descriptive subtitle here)
4.1 Second level heading/subheading (
you will use descriptive subheadings
relating to your research in your literature review)
5. Research methods and materials: (
you could add a more descriptive subtitle here)
5.1 Research method
5.2 Materials
6. Expected findings: (
you could add a more descriptive subtitle here)
7. References
This is what the structure of your proposal will look like if you are using numbered headings.
You don’t have to number your headings, but you should see how studies or proposals in
areas similar to yours are formatted.
Background
This section provides the background information for your research, as you have begun to
discuss this in your research proposal plan. Most importantly, in your final research proposal,
the background is where you detail and discuss the context or contextual elements of your
study. This includes the socio-political, cultural and historical elements that are relevant to
your research. Your background section will be between 200 and 400 words, and may also
include second-level headings or subheadings that you will come up with yourself. Following
is an example of a subheading (second level heading) you might use:
1.1 Historical Context: Hong Kong’s ‘Umbrella’ Protest Movement

Rationale
This is the same as for your research proposal plan and outlines the rationale behind doing the
study and its importance. This section will be 100 to 150 words.
Purpose and Aims
This section will outline the purpose of your research and your research question. This
section will be no longer than 150 to 200 words.
Literature Review
This is the important component of your research proposal, where you will demonstrate the
level of your preliminary research and critical engagement with your topic. Your literature
review will be a critical inquiry into relevant background information, theory and what
research has been carried out in the field before. Your literature review also helps by
providing a framework for your study as well as a lens for interpreting the results.
The literature review is the most substantial part of your research proposal and will bebetween 1,250 to 1,500 words. It will most likely include subheadings that you will come upwith yourself based on your topic and what you discover during your literature review.
Remember: the literature review is a critical component of the actual research or inquiry for
any study.
Methods and Materials
As for your research proposal plan, this section will outline the methods for your study and
the materials required to carry it out. This section will be 150 to 200 words.
Expected Findings
This section will outline what you expect to discover from your research and be no more than
200 words.
References
Reference list using Harvard Referencing.
General formatting and presentation
As well as these headings and information, your research proposal should be appropriately
formatted with headers, footers, page numbers etcetera
