    This assignment will demonstrate your comparative and analytical skills and your ability to identify and
    articulate the relationship between “Design, Meaning & Culture” within the critical context of cultural,
    political and economic values.
    The Brief
    Students will develop a research essay focusing on two design products within their major of study. For
    the purpose of a systematic and rigorous analysis, take the following points into consideration:
    - The selected products must be as specific as possible.
    - Describe the key characteristics of the products succinctly including their historical contexts.
    - Constrict the scope of your research by clearly defining your critical perspective (e.g., cultural,
    political, ethical, economic, etc) and analytical framework of your reasoning and discussion (e.g.,
    Panofsky’s three levels of meaning, Marxism, etc.).
    - Expose and interpret their positive and negative impacts on society.
    - Conclude your essay with the key findings and insightful points.
    Please note that it is recommended that at least one of the two products/works you analyse is your
    own.
