  • 代写LNG 110 – Assessment Task  – Essay

[N.B. Unfortunately, I was unable to amend the length of this assignment in the Course Outline for this semester. Therefore, the length of the essay in the course outline is 1000 words, whereas I think1200 words is a better word count for enabling students to cover the topics in sufficient depth while using appropriate essay structure.

So, the fairest interpretation that I can think of regarding this conflict is to allow students to write between 1000-1200 words (and plus or minus 10% means that this is actually 900 - 1320 words) without penalties for the essay being too long or short. The essay will just be assessed according to the criteria in the rubric.]
A one-week extension is available to all students without the need to request it.
Any requests for a further extension will need to be made by email to Ann before 4 November.

    Topics

    1.    In this course we have learned about the five language domains of phonology, morphology, semantics, pragmatics and syntax. Choose three of these domains and discuss how a second language learner can use their knowledge of these concepts to become a more skilled and proficient user of that language.
    2.    How can studying linguistics assist a person in becoming a more proficient and skilled user of her/his first language? In your answer, you should refer to at least three language domains or linguistic concepts.
    3.    The ability to reflect on language using language is a particularly human attribute. Through your learning and reflection in LNG110, your understanding of what it means to know and use a language may have been changed and/or expanded, and these new understandings may also impact on your view of certain social and political issues.
Choose one social and/or political issue that you think would benefit from a better understanding of linguistic-related knowledge or research on the part of policy makers and/or the general public. Explain how this linguistic knowledge can be applied to frame an alternative view of the issue and suggest alternative approaches to dealing with the issue.
(Possible suggestions: indigenous literacy education in Australia; reasons for and impacts of the low uptake of second language learning by monolingual English speakers. Please talk to Ann if you need assistance in conceptualising the issue you wish to examine.)
    4.    What are the main ways that an understanding of linguistic topics and concepts could help you to excel as a future practitioner in your chosen field or discipline? Choose three topics/concepts covered as part of LNG110 and explain how the application of related knowledge and/or skills in these areas will assist you to excel in your specified field or discipline.
