Assessment 3: Final Report and Portfolio
Portfolio - A bonus mark is given for submission of the 3 exercises as a Portfolio. This will be a series of 3 drawing-base exercises, following the topics of the lectures, requiring the completion of freehand axonometric sketch details.
Students will undertake a personal research based on Case-Study of an existing work of architecture. They will be required to identify the structures, technologies and materials adopted, and will present a critique of the contribution made by construction and technology systems to the architecture. Students will have to submit a report completed with analysis, drawings and sketches, in particular to show:
·           ·full set of orthographic drawings (plans sections and elevations);
·           ·diagrams of gravity and lateral load-path diagrams;
·           ·diagrams of actions and reactions under gravity and lateral loads;
·           ·diagrams of deflected shape under gravity and lateral loads;
·           ·diagram of construction sequence adopted and some construction details of the structural joints;
·           ·a brief description about used materials and construction techniques;
·           ·diagrams to explain any particular passive control system adopted, or any other sustainable
design principle adopted in your case-study.
